Calcutta Telephones - The first Telecom service has begun in Kolkata, India in the year 1882 and interestingly the services in India started only after six years post invention of telephone by Graham Bell. Calcutta Telephones District (CTD) has an important role in offering telecommunication services (Voice and non-Voice) in Kolkata and neighboring areas of five districts of West Bengal viz. Howrah, Hoogly, Nadia, North 24-Parganas and South 24-Parganas.
