The lead author R. B. Anand, an Associate Professor of Mechanical Engineering at the National Institute of Technology in Tiruchirapalli, India, said that the idea has been researched into detail due to its high surface to volume ratio, the nanoparticles have more responsive surfaces, permitting them to act as more competent chemical catalysts, thereby increasing fuel combustion.
