Bengalis woke up very early at the break of dawn on Tuesday to invoke Goddess Durga to celebrate Mahalaya which is a very auspicious occasion for them when they invoke Mother Goddess to descend on earth by reciting hymns and prayers. This ushers in the coming Durga festival when Bengalis will worship Kali Mata at various temples and pandals.
