Tihar jail is the new home of many VVIP's in the Government and the latest to join the group is Suresh Kalmadi, Chairman of the Organising Committee for the Commonwealth Games. Kalmadi was arrested for irregularities in the Timing-Scoring-Result (TSR) system contract. The 8-day remand ended earlier and the Delhi Court has sentenced Kalmadi to 14 days judicial custody in the Tihar jail.

Suresh Kalmadi has been arrested in what can be termed as the biggest corruption scams following the Commonwealth Games. The CBI had earlier in the day grilled Kalmadi for the 4th time over charges of hiring expensive firms for equipment and services. Kalmadi was the chairman of the organising committee for the Commonwealth Games. Kalmadi has been arrested under Sections 120 B and 420 - criminal conspiracy and cheating of the Indian Penal Code.
