On 13th April 1919, which was also Baisakhi, a religious festival more than 10,000 people had gathered at the Jallianwala Bagh to protest peacefully against the oppressive Rowllat Act. General Dyer ordered the soldiers to open fire and innocent people were trapped helplessly before the spraying bullets.
