Tamil New Year Greetings - The Tamil New Year is celebrated on April 13 or 14 of the Gregorian Calendar. It is signified as 'Puthandu'. Many people get their houses painted to mark the renewal of life. Ladies adorn their houses with fresh mango leaves and Kolam (rangoli) designs. A huge exhibition is held, called Chitterai Porutkaatchi. In some parts of Southern Tamil Nadu, it is called Chitterai Vishu.
