The Patna High court has come to the rescue of veterans this time. For initiating departmental inquiry against a retired official, Naval Prasad Singh, the High Court slapped a fine of Rs.5000 against AIG Umakant Sharan. The issue stemmed from a case related to Singh's superannuation in July 2008., Naval Prasad Singh' counsel Sunil Kumar had challenged the court as the proceedings happened four years after the event and Mr. Singh had already retired.
